About Us
The Hip-Hop Healing Institute (HHHI) is a first-of-its-kind national model that blends behavioral health engagement, peer support certification, entrepreneurship, legal empowerment, financial repair, cultural identity, and community healing — all grounded in the language, creativity, and lived experiences of Hip-Hop culture.
Unlike traditional service organizations, HHHI is a full training and coordination ecosystem, not just a program. We develop people, stabilize families, strengthen neighborhoods, and open economic doors that have historically been closed to marginalized communities.
Our work is powered by a unique operating system that includes a dual-track Stabilization Pathway. This model provides a clear, measurable framework for progress, from engagement to stability and beyond. Meet the Founder and the Movement
Hip-Hop Healing Institute (HHHI) was founded by Dishawn “Affishaul” Williams Sutton in collaboration with a coalition of cultural leaders, educators, peer supporters, and licensed professionals. HHHI is built on a simple truth: culture is not just expression—it’s infrastructure. When culturally grounded engagement is paired with structure, measurement, and clear referral pathways, it becomes a scalable engine for stabilization and long-term community well-being.
HHHI began with lyric-writing sessions and creative workshops that helped people regulate, reflect, and reconnect. Over time, the work evolved into a measurable model that addresses what systems often miss: the engagement and stabilization layer—where trust is built, routines are restored, and people become ready for treatment, school success, and workforce progression.
Today, HHHI operates across youth/family and reentry/adult populations, delivering structured non-clinical group interventions and progress monitoring, while coordinating with licensed partners when clinical services are needed.
